Acetic acid has many applications as a chemical reagent for the production of vinyl acetate, acetate esters, acetic anhydride, and others. Acetic acid is used in the production of vinyl acetate, which is polymerized into poly(vinyl acetate) for applications in adhesives. Acetic acid is also an effective descaling agent and can be used as a solvent.
